1. What are the documents you need for obtaining a B-1 (Visitor’s) visa at a local US Consulate?

Participants/attendees to the Tamil Internet 2002 Conference at the San Francisco Bay Area from September 27 through 29, 2002 will require the following documents for obtaining a B-1 visa at their local US Consulate or Embassy:

  1. A letter from Tamil Internet 2002 which should include location and dates of the conference as well as a short description of the activities
  2. An invitation from Tamil Internet 2002 addressed to the attendee
  3. Brochure, flyer or other evidence of the conference
  4. Proof of purchase of a round-trip ticket to the conference
  5. Evidence of bank account(s) in the attendee’s home country
  6. Evidence of ownership of property in the attendee’s home country
  7. Evidence of memberships in clubs and/or organizations in the attendee’s home country
  8. Evidence of investment(s) in the attendee’s home country
  9. Evidence of family and/or familial assets
  10. Any other evidence the attendees have that ties them to their home country – which proves their intention to return to their home country after attending the conference

Note that the more the documentation the attendees have, the less is the likelihood of their B-1 visa request being denied.

 

2. What are the documents you need for entering USA at the port of entry?

Participants/attendees will require to produce the following documents at the port of entry (San Francisco International Airport or any other):

  1. A letter from Tamil Internet 2002 which should include location and dates of conference as well as a short description of the activities if possible
  2. An invitation from Tamil Internet 2002 Conference addressed to the attendee
  3. Proof of purchasing a round-trip ticket to the conference
  4. Evidence of hotel reservation or other confirmed accommodation for the length of stay
